Combined extinguishing method

Traditionally methods of extinguishing fires include cutting off their oxygen supply and preventing them from spreading, and cooling or smothering them.

How does it work?

Consider a typical situation: An electric wire has overheated, and a quarter of the room is now ablaze. With conventional fire-extinguishing equipment, major damage would be unavoidable. But with BONTEL fire safety products, events play out like this:

— It gets really hot, the temperature reaches a critical value. This signal is all the BONTEL fire-fighting equipment needs: it “wakes up” and sets to work. In a BONTEL ampoule, for example, a reaction starts and the pressure rises. When the temperature of the liquid reaches 90°С, the ampoule bursts, spraying its contents over the seat of the fire. If you have a fire suppression system, its sensors will trip, and the BONTEL fire extinguishing liquid will be sprayed from the tubes laid along the walls and ceiling. The units can also be incorporated into a fire alarm system – BONTEL suspended modules in particular can be activated in this way.

— As it heats up, part of the liquid evaporates: it turns into a gas and starts to displace the oxygen. Starved of its fuel, the fire dies out. This does not mean that anyone in the room suffocates: the gas does not displace all of the oxygen, leaving enough for people to breathe.

— Not all the liquid evaporates: the bulk is sprayed across the room and lands on hot surfaces. And it is then that the most remarkable part of the process happens: the extinguishing agent turns from liquid into a film, which covers the fire, cooling—or calming—it down. The film covers all the smouldering areas, preventing re-ignition.
